Mod/restore an old Seiko?
« on: October 08, 2018, 12:15:58 PM »
Hi,

I recently found my grandfather's old seiko that was his daily beater. I believe this model isn't very rare or expensive, so I was wondering if anyone knows where i can get it restored or even lightly modded?

I'm halfway to 50, and I can't see that small date, and unless if bright daylight, the silver hands can 'disappear' against the dial background, so I cant really tell the time. There is no lume on the markers. These are the only two issues i would like to address if lightly modding. The crystal (or is it plexi?) is also quite scratched, though miraculously it doesnt turn up in the pic.

Seiko's movements are amazing. This guy has been sitting in a box since at least 1991 and never been service and it just started right up. Turning the crown, it is still smooth. As far as I know, my late grandfather never once serviced in the 80s. Amazing.

Thanks.
