The design is just simply beautiful, had a chance to "test-drive" my cousin's GMT master II and found out it looks quite good on my hand  ;D

Design Wise & classic...  submariner & gmt never go wrong

Oddly, the 2 models that never interest me because you can see it very often on other's wrists.

Which rolex interest you? I was so close to getting a Subby but I didn't. I also like the 18k gmt iic.

imho, If i got extra cash.. Sea Dweller lor... :) simple, classy & relax hahhaha

Just found this thread.

What I like Rolex most, basically are practicality and durability.

Eg. The cyclop, 904L steel, white gold hands, ... etc

I've had a love-hate relationship with Rolex. It was a few months ago a love relationship, now it's back to hate. The watches are chunky as hell. And the only one that I like, the Daytona is not affordable.

So what do I do? Go for a Tudor :) . A better Rolex today imo. Gilt dial and all. The braver side of Rolex that Rolex just doesn't want to be.

Mostly because of its ability to hold value when compared with other watch.

Fancy, durable, history and fancy.. Did I say fancy? Even if you didn't know anything about watch, you would definitely know or heard about Rolex because of your elders etc. Though I find some extremely overpriced, some of them really have value in their watch

Been collecting watches for years and now learnt that Rolex is by far the easiest watches to flip (you have to get the right sports models, of course) and translate into cash as and when you like it. In fact, whereas I may need to think it over with some other brands prior to purchase, I have now been on a monthly buying spree when it comes to Rolex watches. I tend to fly lots for business; and just the other day, I was wearing my Batman and casually asked the airport AD if they had one. Well, they had so I took it. Along the way during the week, when another AD had yet another Batman, I forked out the cash too. And they all go into my safe until I need some cash for another piece; and I dare say that they work better than FDs.

Reviving a post dated a while back while going through some old ones.

To a certain extent - yes bcoz of the broader brand recognition across the general community. But once you have stepped up your knowledge in horology, you will then realize that brands like PP, VC, AP, Lange etc will be a better testimony of measuring success.

defining your success in your own terms, like they said, every rolex tells a story. i can agree with you, comparing to all these brands, it is considered mid range luxury, nevertheless enjoyable to wear and own.

I will only go for the sport models, good value of money, simple and nice design that you won’t get bored looking at everyday. But lately the prices have been quite unaffordable.

bcos of their 904L steel, build quality, durability, adaptability to multiple occasions, flip-ability for cash, n the list goes on...superb all rounder...personally dont think any other watch brand comes even close...Rolex is KING OF THE HILL!!!...

u r so lucky to get Batman just by walking in to any AD randomly....i have tried the same across many airports as part of my biz travel too...never had such luck...:(
