Malaysia best natural local food - fresh water catch
« on: December 02, 2012, 07:33:30 AM »
Do you all know Malaysia food that famous internationally among eat king beside the durian bakuteh....

It's actually our fresh water catches... But unfortunately it is not well protected by our government.... Hence, the price is sky rocketing for the past 10 yrs.....

For us who stay in city.... Many forgotton the taste of the natural...

I knew there are fresh water fish restaurant in Klang valley now... Mainly selling live river farm fish or frozen catch...

If u guys drop by inner side of perak... Pahang small towns... Remember to search for fresh water fishes... If u r at Borneo... Look for the same.... I remembered my ex colleague who brought me the most expensive 'forget me not fish' when they did the dams job in swak....

Wild catch paddy chicken

Udang galah

Fish

N remember always steam it... Don't spoil the natural sweetness by deep frying....

Don't let the foreigner finish it before u get to taste it...

Fresh water catches as mentioned by Chris that I can think of at this moment :
1) Udang  galah - Tg Tualuang (off Batu Gajah) in Perak
2) Fresh water fish - Grik, Perak
3) Frog's legs - (could not remember the town name, but it is somewhere in Kelantan)

was there about 3 months back. at 80 per kg, it is pricey. sekinchan also got good (and cheap) seafood.

Sekinchan is not cheap anymore like the old days. The freshness of the catch is assured but not cheap anywhere as many out-of-town folks drive out for the seafood there. Compared with PJ it is still cheap. The distance is a deterrent though.
