I would suggest that AP would be better choice only by the fact AP being a part of Haute Trilogy

It’s a matter of preference really. Perhaps you could evaluate better based on how many watches you have, what’s the theme of your current collection and how much do you like each watch and brand.

From personal experience the APs are like work of art. The angles, the brushed and polished surfaces, the patisserie dial, the bracelet, the sapphire crystal showing the movement; everytime I see it in the flesh, I will admire the work that’s been put into the piece. Rolexes in comparison are quite industrial. Not to say they aren’t pretty, just that they look pretty much plaid besides APs.

Rolexes are pretty much recognizable in public, therein lies its appeal. APs in comparison are very much sleepers. Almost no one would notice what you’re wearing except a few. So, depending on your preference, you may want one over the other...

I would eat the full “pâtisserie dial” but I rather get the “tapisserie dial”

If you are going to be a flipper, go the Rolex TT route. This is my 2nd Bluesy. Got a piece from AD at retail, then easily flipped it for a small profit. Chanced upon another piece and grabbed it too. Paired it up with a pair of RubberB today and it could now be a beater. And knowing myself as a serial flipper, it could make an easy flip if I decided to pursue something else in the near future. Rolex sports pieces tend to do well in holding your capital. Not so much on AP. But if you were the type that would never flip off your watches, then you don't have to worry about any depreciation in value; so either brand would do well in your collection.

Rolex | Omega | Bell & Ross | Panerai | Seiko | G-Shock |

AP. but not the offshore models. I think over-rated and over-priced already.
but rolex should be safe most of the time except milgaus, explorer range.

AP definitely gets the vote. For me personally, the Rolex looks a bit too simple compared to the AP watch. Maybe that's the style that I prefer!

If you already have a Rolex then get the AP otherwise get a Rolex first.

For me, I'll definitely get the AP :)
