I am going to Beijing for a week vacation.

So I plan to bring along about 2 to 3 watches ;).

Need a dressy watch for dinning/jazz pub, a rugged one for outdoor hiking at JingSaLing Great wall, a casual one to allow me blending well with local people at normal snack/eatery stalls.

My dear MWF bro & sis! Kindly share your  thoughts and opinions. Thanks.

Note: I have the following watches that I selected for this trip that I can choose from.
Seiko Presage, Direct Drive, Cocktail, 5 Sports, Diver
Citizen Diver, Multiple Hands Calendar, Minutes Repeater
Rolex Cellini, Explorer II, 6694
Tissot Gold, PR100
Certina DS
Mido Barocelli
Titoni Airmaster
Swatch 51
Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso
Steinhart Ocean
Oris Pointer Date
Ball Madcow TMT
Omega Speedmaster
Vulcain
Dubois
Glycine Airman Double Twelve

My initial plan is:
1. Seiko MM300 or Explorer II or Ball Madcow TMT for outdoor purpose.
2. Seiko Cocktail or Cellini or JLC Reverso or Tissot Gold for fine dining.
3. Ball Madcow TMT or Swatch 51 for window shopping.

After much consideration, I will bring along 2 watches: Squale Rambo (the campus watch) , and Ball Madcow TMT ( the mechanical thermometer watch).

I may choose a dressy watch or none. Still waiting my wife final decision where to have the fine dining.... :Blue:

There are more rich people in Beijing than there are in the whole of Malaysia. Wear what you what. You should be safe. I usually just bring along a watch for everyday wear and my G-shock for the gym when I travel and that’s it. Enjoy yourself in Beijing...

@Timeless  @dualcarb

Thanks shifu.

The dress watch will depend on the dining place.
The watch will have to suit the ambience there. :D

I was at Beijing recently for hols too, and my Sub and PO served me well there. Looking through your list, your Omega SM (casual/light dress) and Ball HC (Ball's Hydrocarbon reputation would mean that the watch could survive anything that nature could throw at you!) would make good travelling pieces, IMHO. Enjoy yourself, mate and you must make it a point to go shua yang rou! The lamb was delicious!

Finally, dining places are decided.

Not a high end restaurant, so I will just take Speedmaster and Ball TMT will do

Fine choices in the Omega and Ball to accompany you on the trip; and who knows, you could be going there with 2 pieces and coming back with more pieces (albeit a thinner wallet)  ;D

:D. Hi @D'Andy bro! How come you know me so well that I was going to buy another watch.

;D But too bad that I got itchy yesterday and got the blue dial 16234 DJ.

Sorry, my wallet is thin now before even my Beijing trip next week. :Laughing_on_floor:

I am still very junior if compare with the guru collection here. Knowing a guru here having more than 300 over watches and the number keeps growing

Haha, you found the mutton steamboat place! Next, you must make a bee-line for that oldest Peking duck restaurant, whose recipe dates back to the times of the dynasties. So a Ball shot over there too ya, bro?

Finally, had the famous Peking Duck (though not the Quan Ju De roast duck).

The taste is superb. The very distinguished difference with Msia Roast Duck is thick but crispy inside-out duck skin.

My watch that enjoying my Peking Duck feast moment is Tudor Archeo

I just brought my Hamilton Khaki King with its stock bracelet. Works well when you're in the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square and even dinner indoors at night or afternoon.. Super duper versatile. Also fits under a dress cuff, you dont even need 2 more watches, just bring one outdoor field-ish watch and you'll be fine. I left my Rolex Datejust at home because really, the Hamilton is inexpensive and more suitable.
