As I always say, Daytona is never less iconic than Submariner, time will tell and this time, money tells.

Phillip Austion Magazine was doing so well on the introduction of this watch:

To know the history, I like this article from Revolution Magazine very much:

Congrats~!

It’s all for a good cause.
Channeling the proceeds to a foundation for charitable efforts.
My salute to both Paul Newman for living such a philanthropic life and James Cox for NOT running away with the watch upon finding out the hype and value surrounding this watch and continuing their family’s efforts.

I read somewhere that the auction price only went this high because it was for a charitable cause and not purely for the watch itself. Of course watch blogs will try to portray the value of the Daytona is escalating in leaps and bounds.

To add, the bidding started at 1 million but some Asian investor spoilt market and bumped the bid to 10 million! Hahaha....

The impacts on after this auction:
1. Preowned sport models almost snatched up by watch collector.
2. Rumours about Rolex to slow down sport models production started.
3. Used Rolex suddenly surged and Japanese buyers buying from Msia preowned Rolex dealers at premium price. Foreseeable, Msia used Rolex price will go up very soon.

ripple effects so big? unbelievable
but that is not a regular Rolex or Daytona
without Newman, Daytona might just be another Yacht Master
