How to remove the Omega hang tag without cutting the tag rope?
« on: September 06, 2017, 06:30:16 PM »
Just received this very good condition of NOS piece. Everything is so perfect that even it's hang tag still intact.

Everytime I  pick up the scissors and try cutting it...I just couldn't bear to do it. I hope I can preserve it without cutting it.

This piece of history is hanging on the watch for more than 3 decades. Feeling kinda of "sayang" if it parts with the watch because of me.

There is a metal clip at the tag and the clip is holding the rope tightly. If there is opener for it, it will be great!

I will wait for MWF shift to enlighten me a perfect method to remove it without cutting it.

Note: what trouble me is the black/white rope.

Thanks.

@gchee is right; pop the buckle off and then remove the tag.

Thanks for your advice @r3kahsttub @gchee .

I tried but the whole is inside the buckle hole. The one who put the tag on was apparently slipping the rope in and then sealed the tag.

My only hope now is to try open the metal clip on the tag. But the sewing needle is no strong enough, and the screwdriver is too big ......

You should be able to remove the buckle. If it doesn't have a hole on the outside you need to pry in between buckle and the strap.

I agree with you. Otherwise, get a watch shop to do it which still carries certain level of risk.

Thanks for all shifu advices.

I will give my one last try this evening after work.

I shall cut it to set it free and to make it really belongs me today.

It's been a long wait for this watch finding an owner for more than 3 decades.

Oh. Something very special about the DeVille green tag.

It's neither paper or plastic!

It's made by leather

The best way is to go back to the shop where you purchased the watch from. I rather not risk it doing it myself. Surely they will not charge money on you for that :)
