2010 new model

2010 se pam339,limited 1000,HKD 109,100
(detail and pic from watchprosite)
Perhaps the hottest Panerai this year is the Pam339. It has an 8 day movement using P.2002/7, measures 47mm, with solid back, and uses a "Panerai composite material" for the case, essentially transforming aluminum to ceramic atom by atom, resulting in an interesting dark chocolate/rust-colored metal.

This new material is said to be much stronger and tougher than ceramic, but the look is very unique. Sorry the camera does not capture the color very well. The vintage leather strap is extremely soft and very beautiful. The overall color combination has a strong military feel.

This year's SIHH is seeing PAM moving more and more towards complications. It seems that they are moving away from the original design that attracted many of us to collect pammies. I have no issue with PAM moving up market but unfortunately, I am not one of those who like the new design cues. 339 is one of the more appealing ones, aesthetic wise but the high price is a put off. I hope they will produce some SE or OOR along the line of the 1950 design next year.

An educated guess on an EOT watch would be:

1) Indicator between 7 and 9 shows the sunrise time
2) Indicator between 3 and 5 shows the sunset time
3) Equation indicator shows the difference between the solar time and the actual time
4) Indicator along the date shows the month
5) Indicator at 9 shows the seconds and the AM/PM
